Recent Music Explorations

I am a soloing guitarist singer performer specializing in an eclectic niche of original Spanish - Latin songs and guitar improvisation.

In the past year I have been busy with the practical things of life and had to cut back on my music forays to get things done. However there have been a few highlights along the way. Now I have emerged from these I am more open to take up more of what the world offers. Here’s a few highlights;

First Monday of the month gigs at Okines Community Garden have helped to consolidate my repertoire. It has been so great to play there and the volunteer gardeners love having some live music to listen to whilst doing things in the garden.

Brendan Sharpe, a local music maestro has set up a monthly volunteer Open Mike running there which I have now got time to attend now. I have been trying the Spanish songs I have written out with a rhythm section made up of local musicians. This opens up more doors.

In January I played my Spanish Latin Fusion Guitar and Songs at the Bream Creek Farmers Market which went down a treat. The other player that day was well known blues artist Miss Jones. A repeat performance at the market again in August saw a large crowd.

A highlight of the year was getting a gig as part of the Clarence Jazz Festival. I played an intimate set of a practiced repertoire which was well received. It was located in the Schoolhouse Gallery, a great venue to play in and thanks to the sound guys who made it sound great. Hoping to get into next years festival with different songs.

Recently I was given the accolade of being part of 10 Amazing Regional Music Artists - an awesome surprise.

Roundabout July I joined South East Arts Tasmania of which I’ve performed a few tunes at.

On a rainy end to August ‘25 I played at Angelika Bar in Nth Hobart as part of Hot August Jazz. I had practiced some more challenging songs this event and they went well. We had gone to Bandaluzia Flamenco the night before, that was definitely an inspiration!

I’m hoping to be a bit more active in marketing over the next few months so we will see what turns up!
